St. Peter Prophesized The Last Days As Mockers, A No Faith Generation

Mockers Of Jesus Christ!

This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, (2 Pet 3:1 NASB)

The last letter of St. Peter was written to make you remember what your grandmother and parents taught you about "The Last Days". Peter says he wants to "Stir Up" your emotions regarding the memory of The Return Of Jesus Christ. This is a "Reminder" for you to exercise your faith by way of remembering what you were taught when you were young!

that you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles. (2 Pet 3:2 NASB)

The Holy Prophets from the Old Testament to the New Testament as well as the prophecies of our Lord Jesus Christ in Mathew 24, Luke 21, Mark 13 and the Book of Revelation have spoken the words of His coming throughout Biblical history. The apostles in the New Testament gave us commandment to REMEMBER what was spoken before hand to assure you and I are ready for Christ Return. Let's go over these words again as a urgent reminder of what we are to expect in these last days.

Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, (2 Pet 3:3 NASB)

We hear it every day now. Jesus Christ is mocked constantly and made fun of with jokes, as well as made to look like a stupid liar. They say He's not coming back! It's a huge joke, if you believe that stuff. Jesus Christ was just a good teacher. Not the Messiah or God in human flesh. That man came on the scene making claims that were put to the test. He was trying to pass out checks that His butt could not cash. He was killed dead and that's it. If you believe Him let me ask you....

and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation." (2 Pet 3:4 NASB)

Where is He now? Nothing has change since He was killed and if anything, it has gotten way worse! Everything just continues on like it did since the time of Moses, forgetting all along that God's promises have come to pass twice before in human history. They think today that when they all die, that will be the end of it. Their life is only in the now today, and death is the king of human life. nothing new is going to happen to us!

For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, (2 Pet 3:5 NASB)

Ah, but they're forgetting about "Noah". The Ark and the flood. The Ark is at rest on top of Mount Ararat near Iran in Armenia, (Gen. 8:4). God destroyed the world before and saved only 8 people, Noah, His wife, his 3 sons and their 3 wives.

through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water. (2 Pet 3:6 NASB)

God told Noah to build an Ark and Noah obeyed God and as a reward, God brought them safely through the flood. Not one of them perish in the water but the rest of the world did. Mockers have forgotten all about Noah. And it was our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who said; "For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. (Mat 24:37 NASB) "For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, they were marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, (Mat 24:38 NASB) and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so shall the coming of the Son of Man be. (Mat 24:39 NASB). They have also forgotten about "Sodom and Gomorrah" and how their sins had reach as high as heaven so that God could hear it, He Said; And the LORD said, "The outcry of Sodom and Gomorrah is indeed great, and their sin is exceedingly grave. (Gen 18:20 NASB) "I will go down now, and see if they have done entirely according to its outcry, which has come to Me; and if not, I will know." (Gen 18:21 NASB). And God destroyed the two cities because He said; Now the men of Sodom were wicked exceedingly and sinners against the LORD. (Gen 13:13 NASB). Obviously God does not play and keeps His word! This present day and age will come to a different end according to Jesus Christ and the Prophets.

But the present heavens and earth by His word are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. (2 Pet 3:7 NASB)

Back after the flood of Noah, God promised never again to destroy the world by water and placed His Rainbow in the sky when the rain is over as a reminder of this promise. This present age is reserved for destruction by fire as told by the prophets of old, even the great prophet Enoch told of the final judgment of God at the end of the age. Even the prophet Zechariah in Chapter 14 describes a sort of nuclear destruction where the flesh of men and their horses rot right in there sockets. In Revelation 8:5 an Angel fills the golden censor, fills it with fire and throws it on the earth and a third of it is burned up. You see God won't forget even if you do. Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. (Gal 6:7 NASB). The unsaved man of earth will pay for his sins for sure because God says, 'Vengeance is Mine, and retribution, In due time their foot will slip; For the day of their calamity is near, And the impending things are hastening upon them.' (Deu 32:35 NASB)

But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. (2 Pet 3:8 NASB)

Men don't remember because it seems like it's taking forever, but not to God. He lives outside of our time frame and does not count it as we do. To Him 1000 years is only 1 day so time is on a different schedule for God and His Son Jesus Christ. For God, only 2 days have past. You have forgotten this FACT, haven't you? Hosea said in Chapter 6 verse 2; "He will revive us after two days; He will raise us up on the third day That we may live before Him. (Hosea 6:2 NASB) "So let us know, let us press on to know the LORD. His going forth is as certain as the dawn; And He will come to us like the rain, Like the spring rain watering the earth." (Hosea 6:3 NASB) God has not forgotten, however, His Son is "The Forgotten One". Jesus said, no one knows the time and the epochs, (Acts 1:7) and no one knows the day or the hour. (Mat 13:32) Only God himself knows when "Time Is Up".

The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. (2 Pet 3:9 NASB)

God the Father and Jesus Christ are very patient and have no wish that anyone perish in the fiery end. Patience is a virtue remember? And God has perfect patience. He is waiting for you to grow up and exhibit faith and believe in what His Son has done at the cross. God is not slow about His promise, but we are slow to believe.

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up. (2 Pet 3:10 NASB)

Because of our lack of faith and slowness to accept what Jesus Chris has done at the cross, when He comes it will be swiftly, none will escape. He will come like a thief and snatch all believers away, just before sudden destruction comes upon the unbelieving world. It will be quick and destructive just like a robbery by a thief in the night. After Jesus Christ Comes and removes all Christians, there will be a big noise from heaven and you will see the planets on fire and the stars falling all around you. The fire will extend to earth and all the elements will melt in the extreme heat. Fire will be the way of the final destruction. It will be horror and terror to all who will be "Left Behind".

Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, (2 Pet 3:11 NASB)

This is why I am reminding you about the "Return of Jesus Christ" to earth lest you be left behind. It's not to be mocked at and the remaining question is, in remembering what you were taught when you were young by grandma and mom. how should we respond to this today? How should we be acting? What sort of people should we be? How should we all conduct our lives knowing that it will all come to a swift and complete end. God says "Vengeance is mine" and Jesus Christ says He's "coming like a thief". We all need to be ready and looking forward to his return. We should have a heart that anxiously desires Christ Return!

looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, on account of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! (2 Pet 3:12 NASB)

I believe we should long for Jesus Christ to come so much so that we looking for him every day and night. Even working to hurry the day of the Lord knowing that there is coming a time when the heavenly bodies, planets and stars will all become corrupt. The great prophet Enoch prophesied this would all come to pass as well, and he looked forward to the Messiah coming back with ten thousands times ten thousands of His saints. Some even believe in the ancient pagan prophets such as the Mayans Calendar and the Chinese Yi Jing which state the time of the planets and stars to change their course is the year 2012. We Christians do not know the day or the hour of destruction, we are told by Jesus Christ to stay awake and be on the alert. He said for us to jus be ready for it!

But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. (2 Pet 3:13 NASB)

Christians live in faith alone! You may ask, what is faith? The Apostle Paul explained it this way; Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. (Heb 11:1 NASB) For by it the men of old gained approval. (Heb 11:2 NASB) By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible. (Heb 11:3 NASB) But we Christian Believers are looking for the new heavens and the new earth where nothing but righteousness dwells. We follow Jesus Christ by faith and we hope for the things promised us, the things which are not seen yet, but by faith we know are coming quickly. This is His promise to us who believe in Him and His soon return to earth. Every day I wish to hasten the day of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless, (2 Pet 3:14 NASB)

This is why we try so hard to stay clean in our lives and be in obedience to Him every day. Sure we stumble along the way, but, we believers get right back up, brush ourselves off and just keep on kicking to live a righteous life. We are all sinners saved by the grace of God by our faith in His son Jesus Christ. It's all about what Jesus did at the cross of Calvary. We know and exercise our faith in the facts, and the facts are that He was put to death on that cross, placed in the tomb, then rose from the dead 3 days later fulfilling all the prophesied scriptures regarding Him, from the Old Testament to the New Testament!  Therefore, we who are living in this blessed hope by faith, work diligently every day to be found by Him at his coming, spotless and blameless, always requesting that our sins be forgiven and thus, cleansing ourselves daily as we walk through this world on our journey through it, always working and seeking to save some as we go.

and regard the patience of our Lord to be salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, (2 Pet 3:15 NASB)

While we are waiting, we see the Lords patients with us all. God is waiting for the last person who will be saved, to be saved and enter into His Kingdom. This is "Great Patients" that can be only displayed by a loving God. His whole wish for this world is that none perish in the coming destruction, so He waits to see our work in saving some completed. Then the end shall come. Yes the Apostle Paul explained Gods patients over and over in his letter to us all. He was hoping we all would understand the Great Love of God the Father and His son Jesus Christ. As we work for Jesus, going into all the world by books, word of mouth, Radio, Television, and now the Internet, we see God using every outlet possible to save some down to the very last one. All the Apostles were diligent to the death, even Paul was beheaded in Rome for preaching the Gospel, but before they all die for Christ, Peter, Paul and all the rest, wrote down what they had seen and heard in letter form to teach you and me what we must know before His return so we could also build on the foundation that they all laid to continue saving as many as we can.

as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. (2 Pet 3:16 NASB)

Yes, some of Paul's letters and the letters of others are very hard to understand, and false teachers have come out of the wood work to distort what they, Paul and the others really were trying to teach us. But know that these men and woman have only found their way to burning destruction in Hades where the unsaved dead are waiting as well for Christ Return to be judged for what they have done, because as you have heard in the writings of Paul; For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. (2 Cor 5:10 NASB) These men and women who lived from the past to this very present day and have died in their sins, are in hellish torment in burning flame, unquenchable fire until the day of the final judgment, when Jesus Christ will separate the Sheep from the Goats, the Wheat from the Tares and throws all those who never believed into the burning lake of fire forever, where there will be weeping and nashing of teeth. This is not a pretty picture for all the mockers who tricked others saying "Where is the promise of His Coming?"

You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard lest, being carried away by the error of unprincipled men, you fall from your own steadfastness, (2 Pet 3:17 NASB)

Now since we have laid this all out for you in detail, and before it all happens, we beg you all to believe in the one and only Son of God, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Don't forget that it was Jesus Christ who was the first to say; "Behold, I have told you in advance. (Mat 24:25 NASB) You are to stay strong and steady, on the course laid out for you by God the Father giving you His only begotten Son. John 3:16. Build on the foundation in which you have been taught. Hold on to the traditions handed down to you in our "Living Bible". Those men were not writing for themselves and their generation, but were writing it all down for you. You are expected to hold on to your faith and the hope of the things not seen for they are true to those who believe in the Son of God Jesus Christ. Be on your guard and ready to dispute with those who would distort the truth of Christ. Be of Good Courage and know that God is with you.

but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. (2 Pet 3:18 NASB)

As you stand strong in the faith of Jesus Christ, we expect you to Grow in the Grace and the Knowledge of our Lord. Knowledge is the key to your faith and faith is the key to your hope. Never let it go, never give it up, never let it be snatch out of your hand because Jesus Christ will never let you go. He will not let you be snatched out of His hand because God the father, the one who pointed you to His Only Son is stronger than all, for Christ said this; "No one can come to Me, unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day. (John 6:44 NASB) also; And He was saying, "For this reason I have said to you, that no one can come to Me, unless it has been granted him from the Father." (John 6:65 NASB) This is the plan of God, that those who are call shall be saved because God Himself has granted you life in His only Son, Jesus Christ. Therefore, to Him be the Glory forever and ever Amen.
