What is his character, What should we know about his Coming?

Daniel 7 & 8

This month, July 2008, we want to examine and explore Daniel’s first and fourth Beast. These two Beasts; the first and the last Beast are Babylon and Rome. The leader of these two is “The Little Horn”. All four Beast of Daniel are possessed with the spirit of the “Little Horn” but Babylon, the Golden Kingdom and Rome the Iron Kingdom rule in history prominent.  Beast = A Man, A Country

First Beast – Babylon, King Nebuchadnezzar (today’s Iraq)

Second Beast – Medo-Persian, Cyrus - Xerxes (Today’s Iran)

Third Beast – Greece, Alexander the Great - Antiochus Epiphanes 

Forth Beast – Rome, Caesar Augustus - Nero; Then Rome Died Out!

2000 Years Later…

The Angel tells us, "The beast that you saw was and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss and to go to destruction. And those who dwell on the earth will wonder, whose name has not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast; that he was and is not and will come.  (Rev 17:8 NASB)

The Spirit behind the Beast, “The Little Horn” of Daniel 7 is still to come!

In These Last Days; 2000 Years Later…

The Roman Beast has grown 10 Horns, (In The European Community) and 1 “Little Horn” is coming up among them now, (Dan 7:7, 8). 2000 Years later, this final government system has become a “Mystery” on earth. It's the last days "World Government".

God calls it, “Mystery Babylon” in these last days, (Rev 17-18. It’s the last coalition Kingdom born and ruled by Satan and the Little Horn, who will rule as the “Antichrist. The Beast in its final form is a nondescript Beast, a “Mystery”, having “seven heads and ten horns”. Both Angels in Daniel 7 and in Revelation 17 state the ten Horns are ten kings, (European Community Kings) “who give their power to the new “Little Horn”; who has finally come again from out of the abyss, in this final form of the 4th Beast. Today we call him, the “Antichrist”. He is the same man in scripture called the “Man of Sin”, who also will in the middle of the last 7 years, sit in the 3^rd Jewish Temple and claim he is god and savior of the world, not YAHWEH, and certainly not Jesus Christ.

The Little Horn/Antichrist Is What We Call A “Double Prophecy”.

Let’s examine this Spirit Being who has ruled in the past, he is not ruling at this time in 2008, but he is about to come up out of the abyss to rule the earth again in the very near future, (Revelation 17:8.)

His Double Identity:

Please turn your Bible’s over to the book of Daniel chapter 7:1. Let’s take a look at these beasts in detail. Daniel says he was serving King Belshazzar of Babylon in his first year, and when he was at rest in bed had “Visions and Dreams” and wrote them down accordingly.

In verse 2, Daniel says he was looking in his “Night Vision” and saw, the four winds of heaven stirring up the “great sea”, this is always assuredly the “Mediterranean Sea” and the four winds is none other than Revelation 7:1, the “Four Angels” standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth so no wind blows on the earth, sea or tree. This would be a time of “Great Heat” on the earth during the “Tribulation Period” when the Sun scorches and beats down on men, Revelation 7:16.

In Verse 3, Daniel introduces our 4 suspects and says in verse 4 that

1.    the first Beast was like a lion, and

2.    it had eagle’s wings.

3.    His wings are plucked

4.    He is lifted up and made to stand on two feet like a man

5.    A human mind was also given to it

This 1^st beast went out conquering and to conquer. This Beast is the Golden Kingdom, Babylon, ruled by “Nebuchadnezzar”, King of Babylon!

In Verse 5 the spirit of the “Little Horn”, reappears like a bear.

1.    He’s raised up on one side

2.    3 ribs are in his mouth, between his teeth

3.    They said to the bear, Arise, devour much meat!

This 2^nd Beast went out to conquering and to conquer. This Beast is the Silver Kingdom, “Medo-Persian” empire, ruled by “Cyrus the Great” King of Persia.

In Verse 6, Daniel says “he kept look in the vision and behold, another Beast, this one like a leopard.

1.    It had on its back 4 wings of a bird

2.    The Beast also had 4 heads

This 3^rd Beast went out conquering and to conquer. This Beast is the “Brass Kingdom”, The Grecian Empire, ruled by Alexander the Great, King of Greece, but the “Little Horn” spirit suspect in question is one of his Generals who persecuted the Jewish people and sacrificed a pig on the Jewish altar in the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem, is “Antiochus Epiphanies”.  He was a "Type" of Antichrist.

 In Verse 7, out of Daniel’s night visions, he sees a fourth Beast, A Nondescript Beast

1.    So terrifying,

2.    Extremely Strong and

3.    Very Dreadful

4.    With Large Iron Teeth

5.    It Devoured,

6.    It Crushed

7.    It Trampled Down the Grecian Empire

8.    It was different than all the previous 3 world Empire Kingdoms

9.    It has 10 Horns

This 4^th Beast went out conquering and to conquer. This Beast is the “Iron Kingdom”, the Roman Empire. It destroyed Jerusalem and the 2^nd Temple in 70 AD. Ruled by the spirit suspect of the “Little Horn” in question is “Emperor Nero”.

The Final Form of the 4^th Beast becomes a mixture of “Iron and Clay”; a mixture of Kingdom’s, God calls it, “Mystery Babylon”. Therefore, we will also call the final world Empire Kingdom, ‘Mystery Babylon”. The final suspect person, with the Spirit of "The Little Horn", Namely "Antichrist", has not been revealed to us as yet, (07/01/2008)

2000 Years after Jesus Christ

Daniel's Fourth Beast in his final form looks like this; Revelation 131-3

And he stood on the sand of the seashore. And I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads, and on his horns were ten diadems, and on his heads were blasphemous names.  (Rev 13:1 NASB)

And the beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like those of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. And the dragon gave him his power and his throne and great authority.  (Rev 13:2 NASB)

And I saw one of his heads as if it had been slain, and his fatal wound was healed. And the whole earth was amazed and followed after the beast;  (Rev 13:3 NASB)

This is Daniel’s 4^th Beast, 2000 years after the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. His heads include all the world Kingdoms he has ruled in his past transformations; Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persian, Greece, and Rome, the last four Beasts from Daniel 7.

The Character of the “Little Horn”, the Antichrist!

The Antichrist will arrive on scene as a new Jesus Christ, a Superman, a new “Wonder”, he will have “Eloquent Speech. He’ll look like “Mr. Clean”, everyone will find him attractive and confident. He will be a political wonderment, amazing; he captures all the people with his “Smooth Speech”. He’ll come as a new savior of the world, the new thing to follow. He will be the most “Charismatic” individual to come along since Jesus Christ. He is a man with a fierce countenance, and one who understands dark sentences. He looks like Jesus Christ come again but he is Antichrist.

Let’s Compare Jesus Christ with Antichrist:

1.      Christ Came From Above, 1 John 6:38/ Antichrist ascends from the pit, Rev 11:7

2.      Christ Came In His Father’s Name John, 5:43/ Antichrist comes in his Own name, John 5:43

3.      Christ Humbled Himself, Phil 2:8/ Antichrist Exalts himself, 2 Thess 2:4

4.      Christ Despised Isa 53:3; Luke 23:18/ Antichrist Admired Rev 13:3,4

5.      Christ Exalted, Phil 2:9/ Antichrist cast down to Hell, Isa 14:14,15; Rev 19:20

6.      Christ to do His Father’s will, John 6:38 / Antichrist to do his Own will, Dan 11:36

7.      Christ Came to Save, Luke 19:10 / Antichrist comes to Destroy, Dan 8:24

8.      Christ is the Good Shepherd John 10:4-15/ Antichrist is the Idol (Evil) Shepherd, Zech 11:16.17

9.      Christ is the True Vine John 15:1/ Antichrist is the Vine of the Earth, Rev 14:18

10.  Christ is the Truth John 14:6/ Antichrist is the Lie, 2 Thess 2:11

11.  Christ is the Holy One, Mark 1:24/ Antichrist is the Lawless One, 2 Thess 2:8

12.  Christ is the Man of Sorrows, Isa 53:3/ Antichrist is the Man of Sin, 2 Thess 2:3

13.  Christ is the Son of God Luke 1:35/ Antichrist is the Son of Perdition, 2 Thess 2:3

14.  Christ the Mystery of Godliness is God manifest in the flesh, 1 Tim 3:16/Antichrist, The Mystery of Iniquity, will be Satan manifest in the flesh, 2 Thess 2:7

The Little Horn Will Be Boastful and Boisterous

Daniel saw come up among the ten Horns on the head of the fourth Wild Beast, a “Little Horn” and that this Horn had eyes like that of a man and a mouth speaking great things, Dan 7:7,8. Daniel was told Antichrist/Little Horn would;

1.      Be a person of remarkable intelligence

2.    Having great oratorical powers

3.    A mouth speaking great things

4.    He'll be Audacious

5.    Arrogant

6.    Imperious and persecuting

7.    He will change our times and laws

8.    He makes many promises to the Jewish people, only to discard them all

9.    In the height of his power, he enters the temple

10. He will insult God and desecrate the temple by Standing in the Temple

11. He will kill Jews and Christians for 3 ½ Years

This is the setting up of the “Abomination of Desolation” and is also spoken of by our Lord Jesus Christ in Matt. 24:15-17 and gives us our “Double Prophecy” of Antichrist. He has been here before. This also becomes a picture and type of “The Man of Sin” who in the middle of the “Tribulation Period”, after the Church has been “Caught Up” will once again desecrate the Temple by setting up an image of the political Beast of Revelation 13 and demand that all people shall pay homage to and worship the image of the “Little Horn”.

Jesus Christ is asked in Matt 24, “What should be the sign of His coming and the end of the age”. He then gives a long list of signs which were to happen before His Second Coming:

1.      Deception

2.   Wars

3.   Rumors of wars

4.   Famine

5.   Pestilences

6.   Earthquakes

7.   Violence and Racial Strife in various places

8.   People shall betray one another

9.   There will be false prophets

10.The Love of many will wax (grow) cold

Jesus after giving this long list of indications which have been fulfilled, even during these last days says this; 

"Therefore when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place( let the reader understand),  (Mat 24:15 NASB) then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains;  (Mat 24:16 NASB) let him who is on the housetop not go down to get the things out that are in his house;  (Mat 24:17 NASB) and let him who is in the field not turn back to get his cloak.  (Mat 24:18 NASB)

Then Jesus Gives us the Key:

for then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever shall.  (Mat 24:21 NASB) "And unless those days had been cut short, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect those days shall be cut short.  (Mat 24:22 NASB)

Again we have here an instance of “Double Prophecy”. Antiochus Vs Antichrist

In Daniel 8:17, the Angel Gabriel explains the prophecy is certain and pertains to “the time of the end”. Again in Verse 19 Gabriel states, “Behold, I am going to let you know what will occur at the final period of the “Indignation” for it pertains to the appointed time of the end”

At Verse 23, the Angel begins to speed up time to the final Horn, the Antichrist. Gabriel is exact in his words, he says, (2000 Years after Jesus Christ) “When the transgressors have run their course, A King will arise Insolent and skilled in intrigue.

Verse 24; And his power will be Mighty, but not by his own power, He will destroy to an extraordinary degree, prosper and perform his will; He will destroy “Mighty Men” and “The Holy People”.

Verse 25; and through his shrewdness, he will cause deceit to succeed by his influence; and he will Magnify himself in his heart, and he will destroy many (Jews) while they are at ease. He will even oppose “The Prince of Princes”. (Jesus Christ) but he will be broken without human agency.

Verse 26; Gabriel tells Daniel that the Vision of the days and nights is True and Trust Worthy. He tells Daniel to keep the vision secret because it pertains to many days in the future. (these are literal days, the 2300 evenings and mornings).

Antiochus becomes a type of “The Antichrist” who will also befriend the nation of Israel, but then in his wrath and fury, he will descend upon the Holy City and capture Jerusalem, desecrate the 3^rd Temple and set up his image in the place where only God alone is to be honored.

He will be a “composite” man. One who embraces in his character the abilities and powers of Nebuchadnezzar, Cyrus, - Xerxes, Alexander the Great, and Caesar Augustus - Nero; He will have the gift of attracting unregenerate men, and the irresistible fascination of his personality, his versatile attainments, and super human wisdom, great administrative and executive ability, along with his power as a consummate flatterer, a brilliant diplomatist, a superb strategist, will make him the most conspicuous and prominent on men. All these gifts will be conferred on him by Satan.

He will pose as a great humanitarian, the friend of men and the especial friend of the Jewish Race, whom he will persuade, that he has come to usher in “The Golden Age” as pictured by the prophets and who will receive him as their Messiah.

He will intoxicate men with strong delusion and his never ending success. If the prophecy is for this man to be slain; He will rise from the dead with these powers and all kinds of wickedness and blasphemy.

Dan 7:25 says, 'And he will speak out against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One, and he will intend to make alterations in times and in law; and they will be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time. 

"Then the king will do as he pleases, and he will exalt and magnify himself above every god, and will speak monstrous things against the God of gods; and he will prosper until the indignation is finished, for that which is decreed will be done.  (Dan 11:36 NASB)

who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.  (2 Th 2:4 NASB)

that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders,  (2 Th 2:9 NASB)

The Signs Team Notes & Summary:

There has never as yet appeared on earth a person who answers the description given in the above Scriptures. Such a character is almost inconceivable. No Writer would have invented such a character.

"Then I kept looking because of the sound of the boastful words which the horn was speaking; I kept looking until the beast was slain, and its body was destroyed and given to the burning fire.  (Dan 7:11 NASB) 

We believe we are on the very threshold now of the return of the Lord Jesus Christ, when he himself will come to take the Church out, and then we shall have the fulfillment of all of this prophetic picture in the day of the Tribulation.

Are you ready to meet the Lord Jesus Christ when He comes? All of these things have been written in order that we may know that God has a plan and a program. We believe the next event in the program of God is the return of the Lord Jesus Christ, to take out every believer unto himself, and then to pour out His wrath and indignation upon a Christ Rejecting and God Dishonoring world.
